Two trip reports and prayer requests below!
It has been almost a month since our last Haiti report. On January 14, the Park Hill Baptist Church in NLR sent a medical team to the Arkansas base at Leogane. In 5 ½ days of ministry, they saw 750 patients and shared the love of Jesus with every one of them! The medicines the team took down were purchased with money given by Arkansas Baptists to the Haiti Relief Fund. This team had a tremendous ministry and helped strengthen existing work in the Leogane area. (see the two pictures below-click to enlarge)
Central Baptist Church of Jonesboro sent an evangelism team of six to Haiti on January 21, the day that the Park Hill team came out. They are set to return this Friday. We had determined to send this evangelism team to villages we had never been to before, as the Lord has started the process of enlarging our outreach efforts. It turns out that an orthopedic surgeon and an RN are members of this team, but we had not scheduled the team as a medical team. When the medical folks saw the leftover medicines from the Park Hill team, which we had in storage for a future medical team, they and Roody agreed to take medicines with them to the new villages. All that can be described is that the Lord is doing something extraordinary: 2 older children were saved at the orphanage on Saturday, 45 people were saved Tuesday, and 103 were saved Wednesday. To God be all the glory! The team also took in almost 1,000 pairs of shorts for children. (see two pictures below - click to enlarge)
You will recall that 44 church planters were trained last November. At least two will be assigned to each of these new villages to help these believers in their new walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please pray for:
---The Central Jonesboro team as they continue their work today and tomorrow.
---The church planters who will assigned to these new villages and the new believers as they are discipled. Pray for those who have been practicing Voodoo.
---We have partnered with FBC Lavaca as they pursue a long-term relationship with a local orphanage. Pray for wisdom and for their ministry efforts at the orphanage.
---Pray for upcoming teams: A pastor training team that goes in this Friday, putting on a school for 24 pastors. Pray for an upcoming agricultural missions survey team, an oral story training team (this is follow up training for the church planters), construction teams, and several evangelism teams. Evangelism teams do sports evangelism, children’s ministry, door to door and more.
---Pray about taking a team from your church or a group of churches to Haiti! We have one March date, one April date, one July date, and 13 open weeks from August through December.
