Thank you all so very much for your prayers. We continue to work on the four tracks of ministry that the Lord has assigned us: 1) Evangelism, 2) Church Planting, 3) Relief Work, and 4) Training.
Two teams have served since our last report. I’ll follow their reports with some vital prayer requests and a list of open dates in 2011. Click on any picture below to make it larger.
Arkansas Associational Missionaries R.E. Clark, Ken Barnard, and Verne Wickliffe held our first leadership school, mostly attended by Haitian pastors. The students took courses in Basic Christian Doctrine, Expository Preaching, and Servant Leadership. Nineteen people completed the four day class on February 10. The group also held evening evangelistic meetings in the field and nine people came to the Lord! Below is a picture of R. E. Clark presenting a certificate to one of the participants.
Last week, a construction team from Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock along with a member from Cross Road Baptist Church, Little Rock, built eight transitional homes for the elderly and for people who were terribly impacted by the earthquake. Some of those include:
a) The home pictured below was built for Sylvie D. She is an 18 year old orphan, and amputee from the earthquake. Sylvie was living with her mom and sister when their house fell and pinned her under the rubble. Her mother was severely injured in the house, and later died at the makeshift hospital at the UN compound. Since the quake, Sylvie was living in a tent with her sister and five others. She smiled ear to ear when she was handed the keys to her new house. Sylvie is very quiet and shy, but she has the smile of an angel. She is a devout Christian, who makes a 7 mile walk or rides on the back of motorcycle to go to church every Sunday.
b) The home below was built for Maricia C. She was the mother of 9 children and four grandchildren with one grand on the way. She lost 8 of her children during the quake and has one daughter remaining. Maricia is 65 years old with one and now has a prosthetic right leg, because her previous home fell on her. Up until today she has been living under an open shed holding up by sticks, also pictured below. Our partner, Roody Joseph, adds, “All Maricia was saying when we handed her the new house keys this is thank you Jesus.”
