Part of the team is delivering clean water to flood victims. >(See pictures below.) Drawing from a solar powered water purification system that is located at the base and using a newly purchased water tank mounted on a truck, by yesterday afternoon they were able to get some 1,800 gallons of pure water to the field. They are adding another tank today. Don Settles, Current-Gaines Associational Missionary, said, “people are stuck out in the bushes.” Don also noted that “Buckets of Hope” have made it out there – they have seen folks with them every day so far. People are bringing their empty buckets and anything else that will hold water to the water distribution points. Don's team has also given out a lot of tracts pointing people to "Living Water."
Four of the nine man team, all experienced builders, are helping another Christian organization build a temporary office in the area that is dealing with flood and cholera victims. Don said they were called a “God send.” Today is the team's last day of ministry in Haiti. Thanks for lifting them up today in prayer.
A team from the Washington-Madison Association, led by Associational Missionary Harry Black, arrives Friday afternoon. They too will be involved in relief work, but also discipleship at the Leoganne church and evangelism in a local transitional village. Bob Fielding of the ABSC will take a team in the following Friday to teach church planting skills to pastors and deacons from the Leoganne and Darbonne chruches. Please pray for this training, led by "E", which is critical to the strategy the Lord has given us to spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus and plant indigenous reproducing churches. And please pray daily for our Haitian partner, Roody Joseph. God bless you, Arkansas Baptists!
